Elmare - Estate De Catharinahoeve, Waterlandkerkje

In this Zeeland Estate De Catharinahoeve there is a mixed farm established. The use of the estate is aimed at sustainably managing the relationship between people, animals, and nature, and caring for the estate to preserve it for future generations.
Various agricultural products are cultivated, there are meadows for sheep and horses, and fruit is grown. The grass paths and meadows are bordered by trees and shrubs. The wood that comes from there is used for a wood-fired central heating system, which provides warmth to the buildings. A solar boiler provides hot water, and solar panels and a few small wind turbines supply a large part of the electricity.

There are approximately 1.5 hectares of grapevines and fruit trees in two high-stem orchards and other fruit trees planted on the grounds. The grapes are made into wine : various red, white, and rosΓ© wines.From the grapes, a port-like drink is also made, the Catrinaotje. A portion of the grapes is also pressed into grape juice and juice is also pressed from the apples and pears. Additionally, various jams are made, as well as a delicious walnut oil !
