Cheese Farm Schellach, Middelburg
Just outside Middelburg lies Kaasboerderij Schellach. They are known for dairy farming and cheese making, and half of their land is used as grassland. Here, the cows and young cattle can roam freely outside. A visit to this cheese farm is definitely worth it!
Cheese Factory
The cheese from this cheese vendor is very well-known in Zeeland. They process over 1800 litres of milk into 200 kg of Schellach cheese in the cheese factory six days a week. The range is very extensive. From young to old cheese, as well as delicious herb cheeses with, for example, mustard, fenugreek or nettle.
Farm Shop
In the shop belonging to the farm, Schellach sells these tasty cheeses. It is almost impossible to return home empty-handed. You certainly shouldn’t do that, as a piece of authentic Zeeland cheese will allow you to reminisce about your holiday in Zeeland at home.
But besides cheese, there are also many Zeeland regional products available in the shop, from dairy to bread and baking mixes, and meat. Also nice is the special corner with vegetables, fruit, and potatoes.

But before you indulge in all the Zeeland regional products, you should definitely take a look in the barns.

You follow the special footsteps path to the barns and walk past the calves to pet them. It’s fun to do with the children! There is a special visitor platform from where you have a panoramic view of the cows in the barn.
It’s also fun to peek through the windows of the cheese factory and at the milk carousel. From a platform, you can see how the cows are milked (in the evening around 18:00).

A visit to the cheese farm is very enjoyable for children. They learn where milk and cheese really come from! Besides petting calves and tasting cheese, it is also possible to play in the small playground or in the sandpit when the weather is nice.
A visit to Kaasboerderij Schellach is also a nice ‘stop’ during your cycling tour for a snack or drink.
